After the LASIK / Specs Removal surgery
Following your LASIK / Specs Removal procedure. After your procedure, you will be in recovery area for a while. You will relax here for a while and then our team will ensure that everything is fine then you can go home. You need to wear sunglasses with UV protection. Do not use regular sunglasses they may not have UV protection. Follow the eye drops as prescribed by your doctor.After the surgery you need to take few precautions in order to ensure adequate healing. It is recommended to take leave from work as you will need rest for few days after the surgery. However, some may resume work next day following surgery. Some patients may develop dryness of the eyes but this is mostly temporary. With proper treatment you will get relieved At Indovision, our doctors have established many post-operative measures for our patients to reduce the risk of complications and to increase the chances of a successful recovery. However, it is important that you follow recommended post-operative care to ensure the proper healing process.
Recommended Post-LASIK Activity Schedule
The day of LASIK / Specs Removal surgery:
The day of surgery once you get home, you should rest for the rest of the day. During this time your eyes will be very sensitive. It is important that you do don’t touch or rub your eyes. Ensure to put the eyedrops as recommended by our doctor.
Follow these steps on the day of your LASIK / Specs Removal surgery:
Always avoid rubbing your eyes. Instead, use lubricating drops when they feel irritated.
Avoid staring without lubricating the eyes.
Avoid watching excess TV or reading.
Avoid showering (you may take a bath but avoid getting soap or water in the eyes, showering or bathing before surgery is fine).
Avoid alcohol consumption.
Do not drive (even if only one eye has been treated).
The day after LASIK / Specs Removal surgery
you are allowed to do the following:
Shower below the neck (please continue to avoid getting any soap or water in the eyes).
Going to the office or school; reading or writing.
Work on a computer or watch TV, but keep your eyes well lubricated.
Fly in an airplane (please keep eyes generously lubricated and apply eye drops approximately every 30 minutes or so).
Lift objects of moderate weight.
Three days after LASIK / Specs Removal surgery
you are allowed to do the following:
Light exercise, such as using a treadmill, Stairmaster or stationary bike.
Play gently with babies and toddlers.
Outdoor activities, such as jogging, rollerblading, relaxed bicycling, horseback riding, golfing and boating.
Tennis and baseball.
One month after LASIK / Specs Removal surgery
you are allowed to do while wearing eye protection:
Waterslides, scuba diving and snorkeling.
Water skiing, windsurfing, surfing and kayaking.
Hockey, basketball, football and soccer.
Motorcycling and snowmobiling.
Skiing and snowboarding.
Dirt biking and mountain biking.
Squash, racquetball and badminton.
Swimming and sailing.
Three months after LASIK / Specs Removal surgery
you are allowed to
Swimming, snorkelling without eye protection (but it is always preferable to wear goggles)
Apply eye makeup
Take a shower
However if you have LASIK in particular you must avoid contact sports like boxing.
